About the Author James Murren is an independent writer, with numerous publications in print and online media. His experience includes more than fifteen years of international “development” and environmental work. He holds degrees from Penn State University and the University of Pennsylvania, and teaches at San Diego State University.

By Royal Wilkinson Having just completed reading Whispers of Honduras: A Peace Corps Experience by James Murren, I can't wait to read Ethiopian Vignettes: Seeing is Believing. Jim puts his heart into everything he does and having heard some of his stories of his experiences in Africa prior to his writing of this book, I can't wait to see the pictures of the places and people he writes about in pages as they unfold.

Chapters are brief and easy to read; Murren's writing flows seamlessly keeping your interest from one page to the next. The entire book is an enjoyable read with various stories evoking emotions of peace and calm, heartache, and joy and triumph. It gives you an appreciation and a unique outlook an a a very underrated Country.

This very readable book would be a great supplement to any social science curriculum for middle or high school classes to show students the opportunities for service that are available around the world.
