By Amazon Customer I am a very picky reader and it takes a lot to grab my attention and keep it for more than 20 pages. This book did more than grab my attention! In fact the day that I got home with it I couldn't put it down! It's full of suspense and witty humor just as you would imagine coming from a feline. Definitely worth a read!

A Light-heared Animal Adventure By Gabrielle A *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Sheldon's diary is the tale of Sheldon, a feline member of the Paws for the Imminent Cause (PIC) service to all animals in need. The diary is filed with fun, and fairly light-hearted short stories about young Sheldon's quests to help other animals--often requiring him to solve mysteries--and fulfill his duty. The novel also includes diary entries from Cheddar, another PIC feline. Toward the end of the book, the two team up to embark on their most dangerous mission yet.Sheldon's diary included likable animal characters, mystery, some action, and humor. I would recommend it to adult animal lovers (especially those fond of cats) who enjoy interwoven humor and mystery.

By Luv2ReadBooks I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I didn't know what it was about going into it. When I saw the subject matter, I was a little apprehensive. Stories told from an animal's point of view are often challenging for me. Because we don't really know what animals think, animal-voiced books are often either too human or too cutesy for my tastes. I am pleased to report that is not the case with Sheldon's Diary. The writing is smooth, the action well paced, and the story, told in short little vignettes, really moves along. I really enjoyed the voice that Ms. Quire created for Sheldon the cat. There are moments of humor and quirkiness, given that we are seeing things through a feline's eyes. If you love animals, this is a must read. Or if you enjoy an interesting point of view, unique narrators, and lighthearted adventures. Sheldon's Diary is a fun, fast read!

Chambers The three brothers did exactly what any other boys would have done when they found an old stone gargoyle in the town dump - they took it home with them. After all, it wasn't just any old gargoyle. This one talked and had magical powers, and it breathed flame like a dragon. But the boys couldn't imagine at the time just how much fun the gargoyle could be, or that it would share their dislike of the next-door neighbors.It's a short but fun read about three boys and their exciting summer. The story shows the originality and vivid writing that brought author John Bellairs so many awards.Note: The Kindle Single edition included photocopies of the first two pages of the author's original typewritten manuscript of the story.

You can see Bellairs touches all through the story. No real Bellairs fan should pass it up. My only complaint is that I did not get the page of manuscript that was promised.

While exploring the dump, they hear a voice. By following the voice they discover a gargoyle that can talk and breathe fire! The boys take the gargoyle home and become fast friends. He regales them with stories of his life experiences. Will the gargoyle stay with the boys or go back to the dump again?This is an enjoyable and fun short story to read. David Miller has certainly done his research, as it would take a great deal of research and work to make the story so seamless. The book showed how the actions of a single person can have far reaching results better than any book I can think of, other than perhaps the Bible.The plot was masterful. It was very realistic. And the characters were all well rounded believable people. They helped me understand better than ever before the motivations behind all the different groups involved.This is not a book for children or young people. It is much too frightening and deals with very adult issues.If you enjoy books by Tom Clancy, this is a book you should read. I think you will be drawn in the way I was, and carried through the story as fast as you can read. I can't wait to read the third book. I am very curious how David Miller will resolve the story. Thank you for a riveting read! And please keep writing, David, we're all waiting.

I just finished reading Advent by David Miller.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and heartily endorse anyone to read it. Keep your mind open because this deals with tough subject matter. Mr Miller weaves a tale that is plausible within the societies in our current world. I am disturbed by the fact that it can be. We all need to stay aware of how our leaders and those around them can and do affect the course of events every day of our lives.It is set in many locales and shows how different people and/or cultures perceive things. That knowledge is useful, to my mind. No one has a lock on all wisdom and is always right or wrong.The book is a page turner and thoroughly engaging. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this story By Jonathan Kollt I really enjoyed this story, it stands alone while at the same time sets up the excellent sequel, Wayward Star. Trevor Landis is a newcomer who you know you'll enjoy within the first few pages of his book. It is different from his earlier Dead Moon Dreams (Wayward Call is less fantasy and more dystopian) but I thought some of the ideas presented here were unique, particularly the way that the main character Star learns how avoid watching eyes (but I don't want to give anything away). Well done!

The writing style is easy to read and the story kept me turning pages all the way to the end. Poor Ella Kate has no idea what she’s in for and is subjected to some shocking discoveries as she finds out just how far her government will go to protect its greedy systems. It’s a haunting tale that lets you see the dawning of a dystopian society unfold through the eyes of some interesting characters.

My favourite afternoon in Brussels was spent at Dandoy eating waffles and people watching from their summer patio seating. Wine lovers will also love Etiquette and their innovative automated wine-by-the-glass dispensers. Filled with recommendations to take you away from the tourist traps and offers great options to eating well and deliciously among the locals at every price point.

Alison doesn't only tell you where to go for all kinds of foods (international, budget, Michelin stars...), but also what to eat if you want to eat real Belgian food. The different categories she uses make the book a real reference that you can easily flip open when you want a quick but good tip for a delicious night out or a fun lunch.I know I'll be using this book next time I go to Brussels!

He has earned a Master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies, with concentrations in Anthropology and Spanish-American Literature. When he is not teaching at the university, he travels around Latin America and enjoys the beauties of a region of the world that stole his heart almost 15 years ago. Jason has been fortunate enough to have lived in almost all of the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America. When he is in Latin America, he is generally involved in one way or another with sport and development projects, field research, and extreme sports. Jason loves to travel and feed his never-ending desire to learn more about other cultures. He currently lives in Tampa, Florida.

A delightful little trip By Bbdoll5 Jason wrote of the beauties of our south American neighbors; their habitat and way of life through his thoroughly American eyes. His vivid descriptions left me sweating, hearing monkeys and smelling bananas. His white rafting trip left me hungry for a trip to see the wonders he saw. Jason's life so far has been exciting and full of love and caring for our fellow man, woman and child. His adventures opened my eyes to the fact we know so little about ourSouth American neighbors. Through his adventures, we learn that South America is beautiful, beachy, and filled with the love of soccer. This book convinced me that a trip to South America needs to be added to my bucket list. Kudos Jason on a well written book.

While it is a relaxed style of writing it is extremely thought provoking as he writes about the life, culture, economics, history and people of the 5 countries he traveled through. Having traveled to several of these countries myself I was able to relate to many of the stories included and yet it provided a unique view and prospective on the culture that made me want to return to experience again for myself. Warning: reading this book will make you want to travel and seek adventure

Unexpected read By Gaby at Starting Fresh blog When I started Young Man with Camera, I expected it to be an adventure story of a young boy in a city, taking pictures, capturing events, making friends, etc.But it turns out that T doesn't have very many friends, except for Sean and his dog. T is marked by large burns on this head and it's made him the target of bullies as well as less popular in middle school. We find that T's learned to deal with his lack of friends and the distrust that some teachers have of him. T also finds ways to cope with the disappointment of his parents. His camera and the photos help him make sense of the world and express his conflicting emotions. Certainly, he doesn't rely on words or talking. On particularly bad days, he just wants Silence with his best friend Sean. T's story is sad enough but he makes friends with a homeless woman named Lucy. He understands something about her and shares his photos. They hang out, but attract the attention and bullying of Ryan and his crew.Ryan's found ways to make it seem as though T-- does all sorts of bad things and plants evidence that teachers find each time incriminating T. T's never tried or learned to speak up to refute any of these "incidents" so when Ryan's tricks get out of hand, T doesn't know what to do. Whether to confront Ryan and reveal the truth or to stay silent and protect his friend Sean.Young Man with Camera tells the story of friendships, loyalty, disappointment, bullying and isolation. It's a bit frustrating because I keep wanting T to just speak up, but part of the power of the story is learning what it might be like to be the sort of person that T is.

About the Author

 I am a teacher, photographer, adventurer and world citizen. I am a student of observation. The photographs in my portfolios tend to demonstrate my talent for social documentary work. Not just to photograph a person, but to make that person important and empowered. It’s true, I am a teller of tales, the images I make are my words that tell the story of the people, their challenges, their love and their hope that I see through my lens.I have a bachelor’s degree in art and psychology, and a master’s degree in visual art and photography. And I think more importantly then any degrees that one can have are real life experiences in your field of studies. I’m pretty sure that’s been more important to me than both those degrees..I have spent the better half of my life in the classrooms as an educator in art, photography and digital design. The revolution has managed to erase human dignity, ambition, incentive, and by way of serious indoctrination and repression, limited the people to a life of poverty mentality and limited life-resources, to struggle in securing basic living needs such as food and clothing, things we so take for granted in our lives here in the U.S. In other words, my opinion is that, in spite of the fact that the Cuban people have very little to work with, they seem to show a face of contentment and gratitude for the pictures. My family was blessed to have traveled to the United States in 1962, I was 11 years old. I walked some of the streets shown in Jay's pictures. I walked on the walls of the Malecón, looking for the spray of the surf to wet me. I still have family in Cuba, some I don't know, some killed or died.Jay's book is a moving experience for me. I look through it time after time. I cry, I smile, I love it, it's brilliant. I felt like I was drinking mojitos at the bar in the picture By Frances Pelzman I've always wanted to visit Cuba, because my godparents told me wonderful tales of the time they spent visiting there in the 50's. It seemed magical to me, but I don't know if I'll get there any time soon. That's why I was curious about this particular view of Cuba. I have Jay Seldin's book about barbershops in India, and it is so beautiful and poignant and universal that I gave a copy to my mother, a teacher, to show her students. The Cubans takes that honesty and poignant view a few steps further. He manages to communicate to the viewer what it might feel like to live in Cuba, to absorb Cuban culture, to drink at a bar, and attend a dance production staged by Cuba's premier dancers. The book had an almost hypnotic effect on me. It's simply beautiful.
