This book was like only thirty pages long, wasn't even in diary format, had some things that weren't in minecraft, and it was still totally awesome! Please write longer books. Oh, do you know cube kid? You could ask him to put yo in his suggested authors list, and then over five hundred people would know that the most popular minecraft author approves of you. Keep up the awesome writing! Bye.

By Katie As an educator that has researched purchasing appropriate books for young adults, I'm really pleased to see a book on the market that offers a range of themes and a good message! I am almost finished with this book and it has been very easy as an adult even to be swept away into the events happening to Jessica and her experiences. This is an excellent choice for those who enjoy romance, suspense, mystery with a Christian twist! I will eagerly look forward to more books in this series.

You can see each scene in your head. Words are very descriptive. She makes you fall in love with some of the characters and despise others. Shelly is going to be a great up and coming author. If you have not read this yet, it is MUST read for this summer. I know that the classification is christian/sci-fi, but it isn't bam there she goes about God like some authors do. She makes you want to believe, she makes you realize at the end wow that was all God and they fought Satan.

As a homeschooling mother of five children, some of the hardest things to find in the current market are good books for my adolescent children to read. This book was perfect, mingling adventure, romance, thrill, action, and a perfect amount of faith to create a novel worth allowing my children to read. This book doesn't contain foul language or sex (two issues that seem to permeate the current "suggested" reads for kids of an adolescent age and older). Shelly has a wonderful way of placing you directly in the scene, offering a tantalizing use of most senses. You can picture yourself standing beside Jessica, feeling her feelings. I cannot wait for more books from this author, as I can see her high standards of ethics and morality in her writings! Get the book, sit back, and be captivated for a time...you won't want to put it down!!!

About the Author Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) is the creator of Tarzan, one of the most popular fictional characters of all time, and John Carter, hero of the Barsoom science fiction series. Burroughs was a prolific author, writing almost 70 books before his death in 1950, and was one of the first authors to popularize a character across multiple media, as he did with Tarzan s appearance in comic strips, movies, and merchandise. Residing in Hawaii at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, Burroughs was drawn into the Second World War and became one of the oldest war correspondents at the time. Edgar Rice Burroughs s popularity continues to be memorialized through the community of Tarzana, California, which is named after the ranch he owned in the area, and through the Burrough crater on Mars, which was named in his honour.

BERGER At the Earth's Core is one of the great stories of all time that will get your young son excited about reading. You will have to read it to a youngster because the vocabulary is advanced (which is great for them to learn), and the story is so fast paced and exicting, they follow it without any problem and never want the story to stop. Best of all it teaches a young boy all of the manly values in the context of an adventure that anyone and everyone will love. And when they want more you can introduce the subsequent stories, all of which are just a good as this one. And then go on to the Tarzan or John Carter of Mars series for more great writing and wonderful adventures. Burroughs is one of the greatest writers who ever lived. Try it out.

A Journey Into A World Without Time and Where Reptiles Are the Dominant Species By Dave Wilde “At The Earth’s Core,” first published in 1914, is one of Edgar Rice Burrough’s most imaginative works. It is the first of seven books in the Pellucidar series and imagines a world inside the earth (five hundred miles beneath the surface) where the most advanced species is reptilian and the humans are still living in the stone age. As ludicrous as it sounds now, during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, there were many who believed in the possibility of a hollow earth world with entrances at the poles. Scientists proposed the idea of an inner world to explain anomalous compass readings and such things as the aurora borealis. Such inner worlds were theorized to have atmospheres and be possibly inhabited.Although Burroughs was not the first to contemplate such an inner world, there are none who have perhaps created it so magnificently. In “At the Earth’s Core,” David Innes and Perry Abner travel in a mighty metal prospector into the earth’s crust and break through into a world they never imagined with an eternal noon-day sun hanging in the heavens. Alongside the dinosaurs and cave people, one of the most interesting ideas explored by Burroughs in these books is the idea that time is man’s creation and, without the sun rising and setting, one loses track of time. Thus, one could go off and have incredible adventures and think weeks or even months have gone by while another who sits reading a book could think not much time has elapsed. It is an incredible idea because, without our guideposts of the sunrise and sunset and without clocks and technology, how do we really know how much time has gone by.On the surface, some might compare the world of Pellucidar to Burroughs’ worlds of Barsoom and Venus (although he wrote the Venus series decades later). After all, Innes, like John Carter, is nearly alone (except for Perry) in a savage world where he first offends, then romances a savage princess. And, like Carter, who overthrows the existing order in “The Gods of Mars,” Innes takes on the dreaded Mahars. However, here, the concepts are quite different. The reptiles are the smarter, more advanced species and they are not a human-like reptile species. Moreover, this is a more dangerous, savage world, peopled by primitive tribes and filled with dinosaurs and all manner of strange beasts that have developed quite differently from the evolution of the outer world.Burroughs’ writing in this novel is absolutely terrific and his descriptions of the prospector and the journey into the center of the earth, absolutely fascinating. This was written over one hundred years ago and is still one of the greatest adventure stories ever written. Five stars!

Even though 'hollow earth' stories and theories have fallen out of vogue after geological discoveries over the ages, it's sometimes fun to go back and revisit stories such as this. Not nearly as detailed or geared towards true geology as Jules Verne's JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, AT THE EARTH'S CORE is an absurd (and enthralling) 'inner world' search-and-conquer novel by old pulp-adventure-pro Edgar Rice Burroughs.I wish that this Kindle edition had included the original black-and-white illustrations of an earlier (much much earlier) edition from decades past, but it does have a cover illustration taken from those original images.

You can read it before the trip or during the trip instead of the phone to look up information, as phone battery sure is going to drain, along with your energy. It also gives interesting tidbits on history to making it an easy read. It covers both disney world and universal to it was useful for our combine trip. It won;t give you wait times of course. I also found myself agreeing with lot of things that I read after going through the rides. Recommended for Orlando, FL trip.

So much to do and see, but this "to the point guide" whittles it down to a manageable trip withfun tips and lots of in the know ideas. Great places to stay, out of the way restaurants and inside information about all the parks in the area.Clearly this author has done his homework and really enjoys the area. The city in constantly changing and things are closing and opening at afast rate, but this book keeps you informed with humor and a love of all Orlando has to offer. Thankfully it is not bogged down with information you will never use. Great read!

By Kristin I live in Orlando, and this is an absolutely stellar insider's guide to our area. It includes lots of theme park tips that only locals know, and just as importantly, it recommends lots of fantastic restaurants that are off the beaten tourist pass. I'll be recommending this to all out-of-town visitors from now on! If you've always wanted to ask an Orlando resident how to get the most out of your Central Florida vacation, this book is the next best thing. Kudos to Jason Cochran for providing an extremely helpful and well-rounded guide to visiting the theme parks and the greater Orlando area!

About the Author Tina L. Peterson has been fighting gravity her whole life. The idea for Oscar's tale first took root many years ago, when Tina saw a municipal truck labeled "Gravity Services" parked in front of the house. She never did figure out what that truck was doing, but ever since that day, her imagination has played with the idea of turning gravity off, even if only for a little while. Tina has a Ph.D. in mass media and communication from Temple University and is on the leadership council of the National Association for Media Literacy Education. Originally from Boulder, Colorado, she currently lives in Texas with her husband.Xavier Bonet is an illustrator and comic-book artist who resides in Barcelona. He is always hurting himself or messing things up. After school one day he finds a caboose full of things like fingers and rats. He also finds gravity repellent and goes on amazing adventures.My favorite character is Asha because she is smart and thinks everything through. She doesn't complain when she breaks her leg and she stays strong.

He is the kind of kid that all kids can relate to and even us adults. He is bullied by the bigger kids and has one really good friend (Asha) who doesn't care if he's a klutz.One day, Oscar heads home a different way, because he doesn't want to run into the bullies from school. He stumbles on an old caboose with the help of a raccoon. He tries to get inside but can't because the door is rusted shut. After getting a spray and wanting to head to the caboose the next day, Asha wants to go with him. He finally relents. They get the door open and find all kinds of things inside. One is a mysterious bottle labeled Gravity Repellent. The two kids try it on a rock and watch as it floats. Oscar has a lot of things he wants to do with the spray and one time, it gets him in trouble. But when the bullies find the caboose, Oscar gets really mad, and the one thing he does isn't what he should have done. Could too much of something cause a lot of problems? Got to read this funny book to find out.I think most kids would find this book fun to read. And there are a few lessons they can see that Oscar learns that they can learn too. I recommend this book to all kids.I won this book from a Goodreads Giveaway.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A Clutzy Child Finds a Solution By Grateful Grandma This is a great book for kids, especially those that feel klutzy or left out or bullied. Oscar is that child that trips over his own feet, daydreams and is teased and bullied by the older boys. He has one good friend, Asha, and she is wonderful. When Oscar tries to take a different way home from school to avoid the bullies, he finds an abandoned train caboose. He is unable to get inside so goes back the next day with spray to help loosen the latch. He finds lots of interesting items in the caboose as well as figuring out that it belonged to a Maagician of sorts. He goes to get Asha and together they find several cans of Gravity Repellant. They realize that it will help them float and they begin to have some interesting adventures. Oscar finds out that if he sprays some on his feet and lower legs, he no longer trips and falls all the time. When the bully finds the caboose, Oscar makes a bad decision to keep him from discovering what is inside. Through these adventures, Oscar realizes that he is not a complete klutz and he can stand up for himself with the bullies. A great story with a few good lessons.I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

'Escape' does not disappoint for one page in this continuation of the Jet Series. A chase begins in Colombia which occurs after the escape from the monastery. Jet, Hannah and Matt are fleeing from the leader of the drug cartel, Mosises. He is one upset (to put it politely) man as his son Jaime was killed at the monastery. This pursuit of Jet, Matt and Hannah consumes the reader with some real bad a.. people on their trail. And, if you thought Jet could be ruthless, Fernanda of Brazilian heritage is nearly her equal. Toss in the nephews of Mosises, Felix and Ramon for a little extra action. Drago is also on the pursuit and continues his pursuit against all odds.This book is non-stop action and although I finished reading it awhile ago my pulse is still pounding in my ears. Mr. Blake takes the reader into the mindset of the drug cartels with the operation knowledge thrown into the mix. In addition to the truly bad a.. people that are adept at torturing others, the reader will be privy to the stench of a jail cell. That description will get your attention, for sure.An escape from Colombia, a trip on a ship heading toward Cuba, some activity in a brothel, a sniper in a bell tower and some grisly murders along the way are part of the novel. Lots in this one and your head won't rest until long after the book is done.Most highly recommended for multiple reasons....multi-dimensional plot, excellent character development and action until the end. Buckle your seat belts for this one...

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Say it Ain't So! By William P. Dillon Jet Escape is the ninth Jet novel written by Russell Blake. He says that this is the end of the Jet series. I hate to hear that. I have enjoyed this series (and all of his books) so much.There is action and escapes galore. All Jet wants is to protect her little girl Hannah and her man Matt. There are so many people after the two of them that you almost need a scorecard to keep track of them. As soon as one is dispatched, another comes to take their place. The action is adrenaline-filled and harrowing. This is a thrilling chase from the get-go.Hopefully, Mr. Blake can come up with another idea on how to continue this series because Jet will be missed by so many readers besides me. With the Jet Kindle World going live at the end of July, at least there will be more adventures to read about Jet, Matt and Hannah. Perhaps more Jet Ops Files will be coming our way soon!. Looking forward to Emerald Buddha. Nice job Mr. Blake!

About the Author English author Daniel Defoe was at times a trader, political activist, criminal, spy and writer, and is considered to be one of England s first journalists. A prolific writer, Defoe is known to have used at least 198 pen names over the course of a career in which he produced more than five hundred written works. Defoe is best-known for his novels detailing the adventures of the castaway Robinson Crusoe, which helped establish and popularize the novel in eighteenth century England. In addition to Robinson Crusoe, Defoe penned other famous works including Captain Singleton, A Journal of the Plague Year, Captain Jack, Moll Flanders and Roxana. Defoe died in 1731.

The scholarly introduction does an admirable job of placing this pamphlet in its historical context, providing a 'key' to its obfuscations, and demonstrating Defoe's (likely) authorship."Atalantis" is, of course, Great Britain, and Defoe has created an imaginary country in order to tell some truths about his own. Or at least, to put across the Whig view of things:Another Lord expostulated with him a little to admit such and such with the Men he proposed; he answers, My Lord, I am no Hypocrite, I am above-board; this is the List we will have; the Q....n approves of it, and I will have no other; and swearing again, By-G—d, says he, 'Tis indifferent to me, keep out but the Men we are against; but I will have no Go....phin Men, no Ma....bro' Men, no Squadron Men, in short, no Whigs of any Denomination; as for the rest, it is indifferent, any but them. How, my Lord, says this Nobleman, What will you take Tartarians, (that is, as our Jacobites) rather than the honest Gentlemen that have been so true to the Atalantic Interest: I care not what they are, says the Prince, so they be none of these.One could call the Defoe (the Whig) Swift's opposite number. Swift wrote Tory pamphlets in the same swinging language which makes early 18th Century prose so refreshing, even when the subject seems a little remote. I cannot award it more than three, because to me, it is partisan beyond belief:There was a short Dispute between the Prince and the Earl of Stairdale; but the Earl had so much more Honesty than the Party, and so much more Sense and Wit than the Prince, that indeed he cared not much to talk to him, but left him to Mareskine.He was too hard for them both, and having baffled them in Discourse, he was no more to be Bullied by them, than he was to be Wheedled; he told 'em plainly, They were betraying their Country, selling and sacrificing the Priviledges of the Nobility, making themselves Tools to a Party, and giving themselves up in a base Manner to the Pleasure of a few Men, who, when they had got their Will would contemn them, would love the Folly, but P....s upon the Fools; and as to their List, he scorn'd to come into it, or into any of their menacing Measures.This put a short end to their Attempts upon him; and indeed, had the other Lords been advised by this gallant Gentleman, they had broke all their Schemes; but they were not all united in their Resolutions, or equally determined in their Measures.

14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Why, why, why? By invictus Why do I constantly find myself at odds with reviewers of Warhammer 40K novels? The only review of this book as of this date is extemely negative. I really enjoyed this book, especially the Princess Charybdia and her twistedly evil city of pleasures. I've never really expected WH novels to be great Hugo-prize winning novels of Sci-Fi---they're just a lot of fun to read and they put you into a fantastic gloomy surreal mood. Give this novel a chance. I really liked it.

The Word Bearers are in it, but like the title suggests, this book is about Torvendis, the planet. Great story telling, not held down by needing a sequel, which would be great, but fantastic stand alone. Everything in the story, from beginning to end ties in very well. Best book by this author I have read so far.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Daemons, blood, more daemons and more blood… By JPS I had somewhat mixed views after finishing this book. This is because I found that there were a number of features that I very much liked but also others than either jarred or simply did not work for me.Among the characters, I rather liked Lady Charybdia, the sensual, sadistic, depraved and fanatical ruler of the planet Torvendis, or at least its most powerful overlord, and one of the main followers of Slaanesh, one of the Four Gods of Chaos. I also like Golgoth, the young, over-ambitious and though tribal leader who wants to restore the glory and pre-eminence of his tribe, but how is betrayed by most if not quite all of those that he associates with. I appreciated his rise with the help of a mysterious (or, for the reader, not so mysterious) sorcerer who names himself Kron but who also happens to be a hunted fugitive. I also mostly liked the pieces featuring the Word Bearers because, contrary to what I have come across in other books, they are presented as Space Marines and warriors and not as half-crazy worshippersA second set of features that I liked was the author’s choice to provide quite a few glimpses of the world’s semi-legendary history, including the role played once upon a time by one Arguleon Vec, a Champion of Chaos who conquered the planet for the Chaos Gods, and a huge Daemon Prince and servant of the Blood God.I did however also have a number of problems with what seemed to be holes in the plot. We are never told how the Lady Charybdia came to power and how she managed to secure the allegiance of the whole Chapter of Chaos Space Marines (the Violators). Given that these seem to be Second Foundation, as opposed to the remnants of one of the Traitor Legions, explaining how they got stuck on Torvendis and how they got to serve her could have been helpful. Another hole relates to Argulean Vec, his origins - I wondered if he was originally an Eldar Lord and Sorcerer – and how he infiltrated the Word Bearers. There is simply nothing in the book explaining this.Then there are some features that jar. After being reminded multiple times how deadly the Violators are, you see them brushed away with almost consummate ease by a horde of Daemons. After being reminded that, once upon a time, Lady Charybdia was a deadly warrior, you see her panic and incapable of defending herself. You also simply do not know what happens to her second in command in charge of her Legions, a half-Daemon herself, as their enemies’ assault and storm the city. You also are confronted with Word Bearers, including their Captain, a veteran of the Horus Heresy, actually running away from their enemy which is something that I really had problems with.Then you get the action itself and, in particular, the assaults on and the storming of the City. You are also treated to the rather cataclysmic end of the world, which was originally something very different than a Daemon World. In both cases, the scenes are over-catastrophic, filled with gore and rivers of blood (quite literally) and in fact the whole soil of the planet is made up with bones and remains of multiple, endless previous battles.I could not help having the feeling that all of this was somewhat excessive and unnecessary until I realised what this book is in fact. It seems to be an adaption of a table top scenario for the siege and assault of the City, with the hastily brought together story wrapped around it. While I do not doubt that the storming of the City makes for a rather superb table top game, the book as it stands is somewhat lame and incomplete. A generous three stars because of the good bits.

It may have been the fact that she has been to New York and could relate with all the places mentioned. These books are adventurous with great characters and always gets my daughter thinking on a deeper level about friendship and looking at things positively.

The second book in the Aperture trilogy continues the story of the Jenkins family and the nuclear war between the United States and the pankorn Empire. Besides a series of heart stopping battles, the twins Jan and Jani are further moved into young adulthood. While told from the military point of view, it is not military sci-fi or at least not in the classic sense. download both books and read them. I'am sure you will eagerly await the third volume.

Great adventure and now he is doing Heinlein's political thoughts. Enjoyed in the 50's and 60's. Fun to see this type of writing adapted to our times.

It was wonderfully written and interesting. It was grammatically sound and the characters were unique and believable, with emotions that I could relate to. There was never a dull moment! I don't generally read books in this genre, but this was well worth the read! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was intrigued by the plot and new ideas!The book would be good for young adults to read, but I believe that anyone who likes action and adventure would enjoy it! There is no inappropriate content, which is a blessing! This is a book I could recommend to friends and family, and I hope to read more of the author's work!Five stars!

By vibrantqueen Futurity is a fun and intriguing read! it is action packed, fast paced and held some twists I didn't see coming. I really enjoy super hero stories in general but I have found that sometimes those kind of stories can seem a bit repetitive. However, that was certainly not the case with Futurity. The author did a great job in creating a very unique story that I really enjoyed! I look forward to reading any and all books this author writes. He is definitely a very talented story teller!

Fast-paced, action-packed, page-turner with fresh ideas By Amazon Customer Great book for teens (especially boys) who want to get through a book fast and be entertained from the first to the last page. It's a quick read with lots of action and intrigue; hard to put down! Creative story line keeps you guessing what will happen next and why.As an adult, I wish the book was longer, with more details, to really allow me to get sucked in. The author is amazing at being so descriptive in such a short amount of space, but I WANT MORE!!! My 12 year old daughter loved it but agreed on that point. My teen boys, however, enjoy getting through a book faster! So it works perfectly for its intended audience.Other than violence, the novel is clean and appropriate for young people, especially with a spiritual undertone which is so rare these days. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an action-packed, fresh adventure. I too hope there are sequels!
