Blade of The Lucan, by Greg Dragon

From the Author This book is a Memory of Anstractor. There are several books that take place in this world.

  • Anstractor Vestalia
  • Phasers of Anstractor
  • Supreme Leader of Anstractor (2016)
  • Companion Novels
  • Blade of The Lucan
  • From the Inside Flap Excerpt from Memory 13:When she got to the second floor, Marika was surprised by the lack of security. There were no crimson guards, or turreted androids, and as she opened the door to his waiting room, it was empty with the exception of the large vid screens displaying her chopped up recording on the news. The room was majestic, showcasing a shiny, tiled floor of alternating white and black patterns. There were numerous columns carved with elaborate designs that ran from the floor to a ceiling that showcased a mural of Veece during another age. The walls had vid screens but it also had paintings, expensive oil renditions of the different planets. One of the paintings caught her eye immediately, as it showed an enormous portrait of a warrior with his chin out. The arrogant stance and the care in the detail made Marika assume that it was the infamous Palus Felitious. He's handsome, she thought, and smiled beneath her shawl. And here I thought he would look like a monster. She looked around for cameras or androids on patrol, then slipped behind one of the columns that would obscure her from the doors on the opposite side of the room. As the pulse on her wristband warned that the hour for Kyle's departure had come, she pulled out the MCPT-90 "Hammer of Gods" that she had affectionately nicknamed "Little Bit." The gun was one of the most powerful handguns in Anstractor, and unlike the other, more powerful weapons within the arsenal, the MCPT-90 was Vestalian-made. It was a weapon used by officers to punch holes in vessels when times got desperate, but Marika took advantage of its plasma-generated rounds to take out her marks easily. A normal assassin utilized graceful weapons like knives, swords, kinetic pistol rounds, and the traditional bow and arrow. Marika was more pragmatic about killing, however, and wanted to make sure that no matter where her shot hit, it would stop her target from retaliating.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Helpful companion, but not comprehensive guide-book By Ryan T. Easterday My wife and I hiked the Laugavegur Trail this summer and Brian Zimmer’s self-published ‘companion’ was a great help. Of course, it’s one of only perhaps two Laugavegur guides available in English, so options are limited. If you’re planning to hike this trail, this is an invaluable, but not comprehensive, resource. The document feels like it may well have grown out of a scene-setter or notes pamphlet put together for the undergrads he brings out here every summer for field geology experience. As such, it has excellent background information about the area and the logistics of getting to and from the trailheads (including some limited but good practical advice on getting around Iceland more generally, underpinned by his personal experience). But, geology professor that he is, the bulk of the text is devoted to the fascinating volcanic landscapes, panorama and features founds along the trail. What will disappoint those looking for a true ‘guide-book’ is that the trail itself is most of the time a strangely absent character, making only cameo appearances at river crossings, campsites and occasional dodgy bits requiring careful footwork.A few days after we came off the trail at Skógafoss, we actually saw the author’s charter van in the campsite at Skaftafell National Park – my wife wanted to run after him waving the book and shouting “you didn’t tell us we’d be walking over so much snow!” But that was hardly his fault – last winter was apparently an unusually harsh one.A couple of notes to hikers: - We bought the map he recommended, but it didn’t get that much use, as the trail was usually either so well signposted and crowded that it wasn’t necessary, or visibility was so restricted by fog, rain and snow that it was useless. Finding the path in and around the campsites was usually the biggest trouble, and this is where I really would have liked better text directions from the book. Though with a little asking around, we always figured it out in the end. In Þórsmörk, the trails get so complex that the map was again useless (due to insufficient detail) and again the book was no help. - The advice to bring a GPS (with waypoints loaded as well as locations of shelter) is good to heed – we found ourselves on top of the Fimmvörðuháls pass with only about 50yds visibility, following footsteps in the snow and trying to keep track of the way-markers. We were fine thanks to there being so many people up there, but had we gotten disoriented or off the path, not having a reliable navigation system would have gotten very dangerous very quickly. The device is worth the extra weight on this one.

The author’s hands-on experience really pays off By JW Kerwin, author of Slow Death in the Fast Lane The author is intimately familiar with the Laugavegur Trail, and it shows. He’s packed this incredibly practical guide with detailed information that will prove invaluable for both novice and experienced hikers. For example, the book explains how to:• recognize unstable areas near fumaroles (hint: the color is the key)• summon emergency help using Iceland’s version of 911(no, you don’t dial 911)• avoid crowds even during peak periods (hint: where you start is the key)Virtually everything you need to plan and enjoy a trip to one of the most scenic destinations on the planet is here, from what to bring (and not bring) to where to get provisions without draining the bank account.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. need useful details hikers need, not details about rock formations! By NOYB for the money I was expecting more. as a hiker I want to know details of what milage certain landmarks are at, and the details of water sources, the details of hut accommodations like showers and prices and if those showers have hot running water. seems like you can get much better details probably free off the internet.

The lines are narrowly spaced which isn't bad but rather cramped if you don't have tiny handwriting. It would have been better if the lines were lighter, like grayish than solid black. It would be nice if there are completely blank pages as well to do sketches in. Pages are lined back to back, no blank sides at all. There's a picture of a watercolor tray on the outside back cover which ruins the watercolor map and flag on the front. All in all, functional but not as aesthetically pleasing as you might think from the pictures and description.

The Demon's Captive: The YA fantasy and magic adventure series (Demons and Mages Book 2), by Phillip B Dillon

From the Author The Demon's Captive takes you on a breathtaking, action-filled adventure through one fantasy world and into another. It's an exhilarating blend of action and danger that YA fans of magic and fantasy adventure tales will love.AN INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHORQ - Who should read The Demon's Captive? And the other books in the series?A - Everyone, of course! No, but seriously, I wrote them to appeal to adults but with a young adult audience firmly in mind. Both of the Demons and Mages ebooks can best be described as YA action adventure fantasy tales, but they're also coming of age stories with plenty of action. They're about magic and demons and danger and death, but also hope and bravery and altruism. In general, they're family friendly and will mostly appeal to fantasy fans. It you love series like Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling, Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan, and The Belgariad by David Eddings, you should enjoy these.Q - Why should I read it? What makes the Demons and Mages series so special? A - There's an old expression that you can't fake what you love. I've always loved books like these. Starting when I was young, I would go straight to the fantasy section of the library, where I'd read everything I could find. Stories with likable heroes and rotten villains, and plenty of action and pace. That's what I wanted to write when I sat down to start the Mages and Demons series and I think I've succeeded pretty well. The Mage's Servant is just that type of book. It'll pull you into a new fantasy world and leave you longing for more. Q - What order should I read the books in?A - With only two books, this should be an easy question to answer. But there's also the Free Bonus Chapter to think about, so I would suggest this order:

  • The Mage's Servant
  • The Seer's Test (Free Bonus Chapter - pick it up from my website: phillipbdillon.com/bonus-chapter-1)
  • The Demon's Captive
  • The Time Demon's Ploy (coming soon)
  • Q - Are there more books to come? A - Yes, absolutely. The Mage's Servant started off as a stand-alone novel, but the response was so good when I re-released it in 2015 that I started to kick around other ideas. The Demon's Captive is the result of that process, but it's only a start. Willem and Ryder are just beginning to understand what they're capable of, and they've got so many more stories to tell. Stories of swords and sorcery, of magic and dragons, and action and adventure. My plan is that it's going to be epic. All I've got to do sit down and let the tales come out!

About the Author Phillip B Dillon dreams about dragons and magic and heroes and adventure, all of which the real world tells us don't really exist.Because of this, Phillip spends as much time as possible inside the various fantasy lands that inhabit his head. Always a dreamer, he has wanted to be a novelist since he was four years old.He spent more than a decade honing his craft by writing everything from instruction manuals for corporate clients through to short stories for literary competitions (of which he won more than a few). He has even taught hundreds of people the art and craft of writing. The Demons and Mages series is made up of tales that are light, fast, entertaining fantasy reads packed with action and adventure, aimed towards the segment of the YA market who enjoyed the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series.Phillip currently lives in Nelson, New Zealand, with his wife Nina and a cat that gets into far more trouble than you would believe - and then acts all innocent when she gets caught.

Myrriamelda needs rescuing, but Willem and Ryder need to find her first and then deal with all the obstacles on the way. The author manages to keep the reader interested all the way through to the end. An excellent sequel to The Mage's Servant.

Satan contends that peace and tranquility are the ruination of a species. This argument is taken up in The Ring of Time.Doctor Gerard Sutton leads a fulfilling life--teaching at a university in Southern California, pursuing his hobby of researching paranormal phenomena, and spending his summers on archaeological sites in Central America. Sutton is well content with his day-to-day world until, on a dig in Guatemala, a mysterious stranger appears and gives him a remarkable artifact, a gold ring, old before men walked the earth. This ring will reveal for him 5,000 years of human history seen through his own eyes. And so begins a journey through the ages that will lead young Sutton to become a "mind traveler" able to move in and out of the past at will. As the story unfolds, a misadventure traps the "mind traveler" in the body of an otherworldly being--a being that may just hold the key to unlocking the origin and history of the human race. The Ring of Time intertwines the long-explored concepts of time travel with that of the out-of-body experience. It is a journey of intrigue and adventure across the ages, one that will hold readers to the last page.*****The "Ring of Time" is based on the popular notion of the out-of-body experience. Many, including Einstein, have suggested that time is not nescessarily linear, but rather that all events, past and present, are around us at all times. It has also been suggested that in the out-of-body state, the human conscienceness might, under the right circumstances, beome a "mind traveler", able to preceive and move about in the past at will.In "The Ring of Time", a freak accident traps one such "mind traveler" in the physical body of an alien visitor to Earth five thousand years ago. The alien is a member of a marooned colony of beings from a distant galaxy. These aliens differ from humans only in that while they can be killed, they do not die. They have been  trapped on this planet since before men walked the earth, and have unwittingly given rise to mankind. The 21st century mind traveler, unable to leave the body of the alien, must live through through the centuries as an immortal.

From the Author  In the out-of-body state, the mind is sufficiently disassociated from the present as to be able to see the past at will. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

By Amazon Customer As a rule I don't like writing reviews but I enjoyed reading "The Ring of Time". I particularly liked the way the author took the time to make time travel credible, without requiring too much suspension of disbelief on the part of the reader. I do not usually read this type of book but I would give it five stars.

Excellent novel that includes, in my mind, suspenseful thriller pacing that any good sci fi book needs. Character development is excellent. This effort needs a good follow up serial book

  • The Mysterious Island (French: L'Île mystérieuse) is a novel by Jules Verne, published in 1874. The original edition, published by Hetzel, contains a number of illustrations by Jules Férat. The novel is a crossover sequel to Verne's famous Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and In Search of the Castaways, though its themes are vastly different from those books. An early draft of the novel, initially rejected by Verne's publisher and wholly reconceived before publication, was titled Shipwrecked Family: Marooned With Uncle Robinson, seen as indicating the influence on the novel of Robinson Crusoe and The Swiss Family Robinson. Verne developed a similar theme in his later novel, Godfrey Morgan (French: L'École des Robinsons, 1882).

The Mysterious Island: Illustrated Platinum Edition (Free Audiobook Included), by Jules Verne

Review Adventure novel by Jules Verne, published in French in three volumes as L'Ile mysterieuse in 1874 and included in his popular science-fiction series Voyages extraordinaires (1863-1910). The Mysterious Island follows the adventures of a group of castaways who use their survivalist savvy to build a functional community on an uncharted island. A hot-air balloon carrying five passengers and a dog escapes from Richmond, Va., during the American Civil War. It is blown off course and deposited near an obscure island. One of the castaways nearly dies after a skirmish with pirates; he is saved by the unexplained appearance of medicine after the pirates are unexpectedly routed. The group later discovers that their secret helper is the reclusive Captain Nemo (first introduced in Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea), who dies and is buried at sea in his submarine. The castaways are eventually saved by a passing ship. --Wordsworth Editions

121 of 123 people found the following review helpful. Is Mysterious Island Verne's best novel? By Joanna Daneman Many of Verne's novels have become cultural icons for Americans though Verne was French and we read him in translation. Nevertheless, his philosophy that enlightened good will and scientific advancement would save society is so close to American idealism, he seems much more American than almost any of his contemporaries.Everyone is familiar with Around the World in 80 Days and 20,000 Leagues. For some reason, The Mysterious Island is not read as widely. Yet, in my opinion, it is Verne's best and most rewarding novel. The opening of Myserious Island reads a bit like a serious version of "Wizard of Oz." Cyrus, Pencroft, Herbert, Neb and Gideon, and a dog named Top make a daring escape from a Civil War prison in a balloon, but the balloon is blown way off course to an uncharted volcanic island. These men are worthy souls; Captain Cyrus is an inspiring leader, Pencroft, an earthy but hardworking sailor. Gideon is kind of a "everyman" -- observant, strong and resourceful and loving, and Herbert a young, knowlegeable naturalist. These men and their dog Top conquer the island's challenges and make the very best out of their isolation on the small island. But are they prepared for the surprises the island has for them--and the ultimate surprise in the second half of the book. The suspense keeps the reader turning the pages through a great deal of descriptive information about nature, chemistry, physics and engineering. This is classic Verne and what really put the Science in Science Fiction. One reason Mysterious Island may not have developed the strong audience of the other Verne novels is that there is so much detail and scientific discussion. That is rough going if you have little interest in such subjects. There are abridged versions that cut a lot of the description, but frankly, the science is what I love best about the book. How Cyrus and company make nitroglycerin and use it to reshape their island home is one of my favorite chapters in sci-fi literature. If you liked Swiss Family Robinson as a child, you would surely enjoy Mysterious Island. It's one of Verne's best works and deserves to be read.

Cross I have not had a chance to talk about any of the books that I have read recently, but I decided that today I would. Recently upon getting my Kindle 2 I downloaded for free a copy of Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island. One of the great things about owning a Kindle is that the second you own it you can download many classics for free and you already have a well stocked library full of classic novels that triumph over some of today's commercial attempts.I really recommend reading this book. It starts off slowly, and there were times in the middle of the book that I began to get overwhelmed by the complex descriptions that Verne offers about how this band of Civil War escapees manage their life on a strange island. Verne goes into such depth that the reader can actually tell that Verne probably spent many hours in his own contemplation about what he would do if he were stranded on an island. And let me be the first to say that if I were stranded on an island I would want Jules Verne right beside me. His knowledge of the subject went further than you would expect it to and considering that the book was written in the 1870's. The type of information that was possessed by the characters given by Verne surpasses what most people would know today. It wasn't too far after being stranded that the band of men were making pottery, iron and planning to make guns. At one point they even knew to take small whale bones and hunt with them. These are things that are lost in today's world of luxury.I think the beauty of the story lies in its ability to transport you to this other place and time. As I read the book I felt as if I was back in the 1800's trying to survive and thinking as I read, "what would I do?" It is an excellent book that could be read by young and old alike.

So I am searching out classics to read on the Kindle that cost $0. Came across Mysterious Island and I have been captivated by it. Very good read. Intelligent with adventure. After reading the book, I wondered about any movies made about this book. I saw one listed on Netflix that had giant sea monsters fighting the island inhabitants. The movie also had women on the island with the men. I guess whomever tried to sell the idea of the book to Hollywood was afraid of just presenting the book as is. No sea monsters and no women. I think the movie version would be "a little" like Castaway. To sum up. The book is free and easy to read, and enjoyable. Thanks for your time.

The Glencoe Cotton Mill and its village have a story very similar to that of other 19th- and 20th-century mill communities across the South. The mill operated from 1880 until 1954, and its employees lived in mill houses and shopped at the company store. After it closed, the community faded into vacant houses, rutted streets, and weed-covered properties. Unlike other mills, however, Glencoe found a spark of new life. People interested in its history—headed by Graham resident Sarah Rhyne—joined together to see the property declared a national historic site. Work reclaimed the mill and preserved it for the future. Preservation North Carolina helped, as did a number of individuals from the area, and life returned. Many of the mill houses have been purchased and restored and are now home to a new generation of residents. The Textile Heritage Museum occupies the old office-store building and, with its displays, shows the history of Glencoe and southern textiles in general.

Vampiric Retirement: The Vampire War Commences, by david stevens

About the Author Hello and welcome. Write a biog they say! Now there is a challenge. Stories books even articles are easy to do as they are held at a distance, admittedly short but still distant. A 'biog,' that is another thing altogether. Why anyone would want to read about the writer I can't envisage, writers lives are really rather boring, it is the tales they tell that have such wonderful abilities. I am often told that fateful sentence, 'I could be a writer' or 'I would like to write a book'. To these people I always say do it, write it, it does not matter whether it is a good book or a bad one, because it is your book, well it is until you contact a publisher, then that all changes. At roughly fourteen years of age I was carted off to Bangor for an excruciating length of in-depth testing, where they discovered that I was severely dyslexic and reasonably intelligent. The first was new to me, the latter something I had naturally known, but it did explain why I could not write. Then along came the computer and thanks to a good friend I acquired one, and that was the start of a long long road. Just to put things in place, let me point out that the computer in question was made by Amstrad and it had no, yes I said no, hard drive. In fact it used five and a quarter floppy disks and had the processing power of about 56 K. Now that sounds shocking these days but consider that 56K was about what N.A.S.A had when they put a man on the moon. Back to a biog. To my readers I would like to say that I hope you enjoy my work, because for me to say anything else would be a lie, as is clearly shown by the fact that I place my work out there amongst you, obviously I want it to be read, but more importantly to be entertaining for you the reader. The more you write the more you open yourself up for criticism, but also the more you learn and the better your writing becomes. Writers call this learning the 'craft' or developing it. In my case as with most, the more I developed the craft the better the stories construction became, so old stories are never as well constructed as new stories but the editing process improves with practice, that is one of the drawbacks to posting on the net, you are always stuck with the old stories. Those older stories will have a greater number of problems than the newer ones but it is not the style that matters but the content and of course the improvement. For those of you that just need to know more about yo

A hidden gem of a book By Bakerg2 I came across this book purely through chance and I really wasn't expecting much from an unknown writer, but surprisingly I really enjoyed the story.Rather than the usual gothic brooding we expect from a saturated vampire market the author takes a gritty, realistic thriller approach and taking their time with the story, gives weight to the global unfolding of the story.More of a mix of World War Z with Jack Ryan, the story removes the supernatural elements to vampires, which in fact makes them more threatening. I really like the direction of the story and even though David Stevens' editors let him down in places (he is a self confessed dyslexic, but they shouldn't be!) this doesn't detract from the story. For a first book, I think there's much potential to develop the story further, and I look forward to seeing David Stevens' writing style develop with it. Recommended.

The arduous 200 light year space journey from a destroyed Earth is finally over. Now Captain Nick Johns and the crew of the spaceship Genesis must carve out space on a new world to colonize. Unfortunately, their new home planet, Genesis Prime, is already inhabited by three sentient races, one of which is human transplanted from Earth in the 3rd Century BC by aliens needing slave labor. Captain Johns and his crew liberate the enslaved humans and capture the aliens ruling over them. The human slaves still lived in the 3rd Century culture and viewed the humans of the Genesis as Olympian gods, actually believing Captain Johns was the Olympian god, Zeus. During the liberation they also captured the alien technology, which was far more advanced than that of the Genesis. Eventually they befriend the few remaining aliens and learn the secrets of their technology, one of which is a Plasma Bubble that can transport matter through time and space. They use this technology to free the last remaining almost extinct aliens from their home world. In doing so, the Genesis attracts the attention of the alien’s adversaries that were waging genocide against them. These adversaries now turn their war upon the Genesis colony. Battles rage against these vicious, attacking aliens until the Genesis must face the most ruthless and dangerous race yet, the Human Race. Captain johns learns with absolute certainty that humans can not be trusted to govern themselves. Humans by their very nature are self-destructive, and given enough time they will destroy themselves. The hardest battles came from within the Human Race and its inherent treachery.

Earth itself decimated when hit by a rogue meteor as it emerged from the blackness of space. The sight of your home world's destruction was a terrible thing to witness... a terrible thing to recall. Now, hundreds of years later there is still pain when it is brought to mind.... along with regret that even though a handful of selected survivors were able to escape just before that terrible impact... that there wasn't something 'more' that could have been done to help those left behind.Putting all of that behind them, as best they can, the passengers and crew of the Genesis spaceship which was humanities 'fresh start' on a new world now turn they faces towards the future and the tasks of making a new home... a new life... on this new planet. There were 'challenges'?... lots of them and some of them because the survivors of Earth discovered that they were not alone on this world after all. Add to that the discovery of a nice bit of alien technology that made travel of between vast distances a 'snap'... sounds good?... yeah, they thought so... it's just that the darn thing didn't come with a users manual. What else was this device capable of?Might they be able to help Earth after all?The adventure starts with Genesis Logs and the story continues with Genesis Prime , and perhaps yet more on the horizon. Aaaahh... but I forgot... is space, there is no horizon.Gary Babb has an interesting and unique way of weaving plot components like threads in a loom... the finished tapestry never fails to delight.

Silverwood is the second book in a mind-twisting new YA dystopian sci-fi time travel series

Sequel to The Boy Who Fell from the Sky

A boy hacks into his own future to try to save his mother from a mysterious virus.

When Mathew Erlang’s mother becomes seriously ill, he’ll do anything he can to save her and he knows his future self would too.

Alone in an England afflicted by extreme weather, biological warfare and civil war, Mathew needs to find his older self before Lestrange catches up with him and takes him back to his own time.

    ˃˃˃ Author Interview

Q: This is the second book in the series. Will there be any more?

The Boy Who Fell from the Sky is part of the House Next Door trilogy, a series of three dystopian science fiction novels. Silverwood, which is the next is the series is already available. The third and final part, The Moon at Noon will be out in December 2015. Look out for the box-set in early 2016.

Q: Does the world really need any more teen dystopia?

Absolutely. Personally, I can’t get enough of them. What I love about dystopian science fiction is it allows you to build worlds and explore ideas on a scale that it’s difficult to do in realist fiction. But I’m hoping Silverwood and the other novels in the House Next Door trilogy offer a tiny bit of a different spin on the genre. This story is set in our own world. It starts in 2055, forty years from now, so the world is recognisable, but there are many differences in terms of everyday technology, plus climate change has already really started to kick in. When the novel opens, London has been flooded, the underground is under water, people have lost their homes. But this is also time travel fiction, so you also get to see what the world will look like in four hundred years time. If the scientists are right about climate change, then Siberia could be a tropical jungle by then.

Q: Where do you get your ideas from?

About ten years ago, I started reading The New Scientist and around the same time I came across a book by a theoretical physicist called Michio Kaku. He writes these fun books, trying to make science accessible to people by being playful. He does things like try to work out whether you can really make a light sabre or an invisibility cloak. I became fascinated by all these ideas and by the incredible possibilities of science and technology. We’re living through this huge explosion in technological innovation. It will transform many people’s lives for the better. But it also has its dark side. And, of course, then there’s climate change. I started reading avidly and widely about all these things. I built a timeline of what the various sources were saying may happen. I wanted to imagine what it would be like to live in the future, so I decided to write time travel fiction. I list all my sources on my website, if you want to find out more.

Q: Don’t you worry you’ll get the future wrong?

I write about this on my blog. It is impossible to predict the future (unless you have been there an come back like Mathew). Although some of the best augers have been science fiction writers and for every silly prediction they have made, there’s an uncannily accurate one.

The plot thickens and twists in extraordinary ways. The author is clearly in her natural flow here. It's very tightly written and full of surprises - plus the author's amazing predictions for the future.

Silverwood, highly recommended for Fantasy and Science Fiction Readers By Mary Enck I read the first in this series and just completed reading Book II. I am eager to enter the world once more in the third and continuing story. There is one character whose purpose, identity and his true relationship to the main character, The Boy Who Fell From The Sky is such a mystery. I am so intrigued by that character who lives in the house next door. I must discover more about him and the technology he plays with. Actually, the author Jule Owen must be a gamer herself. In truth, she understands the nuances of the game played out by her characters and the effect their actions and decisions make along the path to the "end game". Although they continue to say it is not a game, but rather a finely tuned exploration into what may or may not come to pass. I agree, the technology is amazing and quite believable.I love these novels. They are a paradise of speculation for the perils of our tomorrows to come. I prefer not to create spoilers when reviewing a novel from my own perspective, but rather speak of the effect it has on me. These stories of the Silverwood are so intricate and the author has created a masterful work to feed the fantasies of those of us who enjoy getting lost in a novel. I certainly have and will look forward to reading the third book.

I like that all of the core characters from the first book are still there. What’s interesting is that they are kinda playing duel roles in the same story. Not an easy thing to achieve as a writer. They are essentially the same people but at different times of life that coincide both in the later time period and the present. Intricate stuff.I like that this book leaves you with a bit of a puzzle. First you have Mr. Lestrange who exists in this other “reality” but doesn’t somehow. I’m looking forward to finding out just who he really is. Second, you have the puzzle of what Hoshi (Mathew’s mother) was working on in her lab. Third, what is the actual illness she has and will she recover? Fourth, is the “simulator” in Mr. Lestrange’s house really a time machine or a type of interactive film? Finally, if Mathew’s father is indeed dead then who was he and what was he working on?Talk about amping up the brain with intrigue. I’m basically chomping at the bit to find the answers to all my questions.
