It provided us with helpful suggestions everywhere we went. We didn't rely on it solely - we also had an excellent large map, suggestions from friends, and local suggestions at each stop. But as a general guide, we greatly appreciated it. Buy the paper version rather than the e-version because you'll consult it all the time, and it's just much easier to use.

  • A Woman of No Importance is a play by Irish playwright Oscar Wilde. The play premièred on 19 April 1893 at London's Haymarket Theatre. Like Wilde's other society plays, it satirizes English upper class society. It has been performed on stages in Europe and North America since his death in 1900.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Oscar, you're the greatest! By Perry B. Alers, aka peebee One thing I like about Oscar Wilde: he gets better each time you encounter him. Just one performance or reading is completely inadequate; you must return again and again to mine out all the nuggets he has left behind. In this play, for example, his crack about fox hunting - the "unspeakable/uneatable" one - first appears, tossed off in a scene made up of the vacuous dialog of a bunch of English aristocrats. You've got to be on your toes or you'll miss it completely. And the same goes for the little crumbs of plot he scatters in such conversations. Only after you've finished the play and go back to reread it do you see them. He was a meticulous craftsman. Which makes it all the more painful to point out the one flaw I found - one which has no doubt generated a river of tenure-gaining footnotes over the past 120 years. The crashing third-act curtain line by Mrs. Arbuthnot is an actor's dream, but it is set up by one of the corniest exchanges I can remember. In a pure, mustache-twirling piece of Victorian melodrama, our gentle hero, Gerald, goes into a murderous rage in about four lines. Hester, a girl he has so far simply taken for a walk in the garden, runs on stage claiming she has just been "insulted" by Lord Illingworth, and Gerald goes ape. Now, "insult" might have meant far more to a late Victorian than it does to us, but it makes the whole scene look a bit ridiculous. Not worthy of the Master.

A nice little play By medina4me I have to say that although I am not a great fan of Oscar Wilde I do enjoy his plays. The Importance of Being EarnestThe Ideal HusbandLady Windemere's FanandA Woman of No ImportanceIf you like funny, cheeky comedies where people always say the opposite of what they mean and are never serious about anything serious then this is a good read. These little plays are not only fun and easy to read but they are short enough that they can be read in a day or even less (depends on your reading speed). There may be some subjects tackled that folks may not understand like Bimetalism and perhasp other 19th Century words used. However, those are easily researched and they don't confuse the subject or the play. I highly recommend this play especially since the price is free.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Sparkling wit combined with a big dose of bitter By Loving G-ma The play is filled with clever conversations and biting satire on the various high-society types, as well as some of the naive and struggling younger folk, whose idealistic aspirations collide with all manner of obstacles.Oscar Wilde's scathing wit is in evidence throughout. But the story has a a more negatively toned ending than many of his other sparkling and cleverly resolved episodes in the comedy of manners.Large helping of food for thought, but on the bitter side.

Review Reviews of ebook from Amazon.com: "Above the Labyrinth truly is a page-turner. I just had to know what happened to PT next. I hope Yeager is able to muster another adventure for this very realistic and believable character." Roger McCoy, Author of 'Ending In Ice' & 'On The Edge' "A wonderful adventure story full of action. A great read from a new author. Very Grisham like in the telling." "I couldn't put down, Michael Yeager's Above the Labyrinth...well crafted and keenly insightful novel. Anyone who wants to better understand the devastating effects of all wars, and the Vietnam War in particular, should read this book. I look forward to hearing more from Yeager." "WOW! This book is amazing! Buy it, start reading it and you won't put it down 'til you finish it....thank you to Mark Morris for sharing, and thank you Michael Yeager for writing this book." How come I can't find any other books by this author By paul h brehm Yeager must be a newcomer on the scene as evidenced by the fact that I can't find any other publications from him. This book was great reading and hard for me to put down. I hope to see more from this young author.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Truly this is a page turner. It's hard to put down. By Roger McCoy Michael Yeager's experience in Vietnam and his acquaintance with issues of post traumatic stress no doubt play a big role in making this exciting and engrossing book a good read. The reader watches as the protagonist, PT, moves from seemingly safe job flying for Air America into harrowing life or death situations. Yeager skillfully progresses PT from a carefree young flyer to a hardened veteran of life at its toughest in a war zone. PT faces those moments when a war involves civilians, and he has only a fraction of a second to make a decision on whether to pull the trigger. The experiences inevitably take their toll on PT and he eventually finds himself unsuited for the ordinary routines of civilian life. Even after returning from Vietnam, P.T feels the need to settle a score with an unsavory character from the war, and vows to "fix the problem." Yeager wisely leaves some details of the "fix" to the readers imagination, but leaves no doubt that the problem is solved. Above the Labyrinth truly is a page-turner. I just had to know what happened to PT next. I hope Yeager is able to muster another adventure for this very realistic and believable character,

Reads like the author is vary mature writer, gifted in keeping the readers interest in the various movements in the life of PT. Gives the reader a good sense what the experience of war in Vietnam s like up close and the inner struggle of a Veteran coming to terms with the experiences in the war zone. Character development is rich and varied. Look forward to Mike's next venture.

Review The Dermot Sparhawk series is one of Boston's finest, worthy of sharing the shelf with Robert B.Parker's iconic Spenser novels. Tom MacDonald's roaring good stories, fueled by marvelous characters, hits the gas on page one and never lets up. These book assures MacDonald a place in the top tier of New England suspense writers."Julia Spencer-Fleming, New York Times bestselling author of Through the Evil Days.

From the Author Have you always wanted to be an author?Being an author wasn't even a thought for me. In 1999 I went back to school for an MBA at Boston College, and while I was there I accidentally discovered writing. I learned an important lesson in the MBA program: I had neither the aptitude nor the interest to do well in business.  But I also learned I had a talent for writing, and I went after it. After I graduated from BC, I was accepted into the MFA creative writing program at the Stonecoast Writing Seminars at the University of Southern Maine. The moment I got there I knew I was in my element.  I have come full circle.  I am now teaching creative writing at Boston College in the evening. What about the genre appeals the most to the writer in you?The pureness of the protagonist is what appeals to me. It's an American archetype, a hero beyond corruption. This doesn't mean the hero is perfect or moral or ethical in all areas of his life, but that he is a man of his word. He can't be bought off. Money isn't his yardstick. This type of hero focuses on the means, not the ends. It is how he accomplishes things, not what he accomplishes. His quest is personal, a test of character, and it's the test he obsesses on until it's done. The case is merely a prop, an obstacle he must overcome. These stories are highly individualistic, one man against the system. I think readers live vicariously through the hero - I always did.

From the Inside Flap Boston native Dermot Sparhawk is at it again. The artwork at the beginning of each chapter was a nice addition; I enjoyed it.Tom has worked hard to develop his writing skills and I believe he is now one of the best in the thriller department. I couldn’t find a sour note anywhere in the book. He held my attention from start to finish. I read it very slowly because I didn’t want it to end.Tom MacDonald is hitting it out of the park with his Dermot Sparhawk series. I eagerly await the next installment.

By Amazon Customer This is the third book of Tom McDonald's that I have written. I find the this to be his best. His use of language has risen to another level. The style keeps me up at night reading when I should be getting some shut eye as I follow the twists and turns. The characters are great and I enjoy how he continues to weave and build upon the first two books and their great characters. The description of the city is the best. I grew up in the streets of Boston and Tom describes them with a great sense of familiarity. He has a gift and look forward to his next book.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Who Needs Dinner or a Vacuumed Carpet? Dermot Sparhawk is in Town! By Margaret Liolin The Revenge of Liam McGrew was superb. I loved the first book, liked the second, and this third totally blew me out of the water. To have Dermot presented in the first person - the ONLY character so presented - is a stroke of genius. Everybody else is vital, of course, but once I started reading in the first person, I thought, "Aha! it's my buddy, Sparhawk, yahoo-oo!" The author's attention to the minutest detail is remarkable. Every facial twitch, bodily shift, brow furrow, to clumsily name a few, helps each character come to life on a deeply personal level, so that it does not take long before we really and truly KNOW this or that guy. Furthermore, that Liam McGrew, on his last legs, is sitting in Belfast throughout the entire story, directing and manipulating his "people" like a master puppeteer, is another brilliant concept, played out perfectly by this amazing Tom MacDonald. The book is a wonderful page-turner. While I was reading, all house-keeping and meal-preparations were put on hold! Already I'm looking forward to Tom's fourth book.

I am not even done reading it and already love it. I will post an update once I am done but can already say that this book is as great as the magnificent main character, Leo. This book is so beautifully written, you can visualize everything that is described, its as if you are there. I catch myself gasping out loud when intense situations come up in the book. You cannot stop reading it, it is so addicting and you're constantly thinking "I want to know what happens!" I love the character so much and how every other character's back story is given so you can understand their backgrounds and how each character goes hand in hand. It is amazing. This book really is a story, a novel, a thriller of its own kind. I really hope to see this become a movie in the future. GREAT writing! Thank you so much. :)UPDATEWow, just when I thought I new what to expect about this book, it still found ways of surprising me. I finally finished this incredible book. Even through the toughest times the book never failed to put me in a trance, drawing me in with its fascinating plot. You ever read a book that states certain things and you're left with questions going in your head like "how does that happen? what would they use to do this?" etc, well this book even adds in the tangent questions one would have within the readings of this book. What I love most about this book is its uniqueness, its not your average book, this book goes into the perspective of the animal, Leo the lion, to show you what he was thinking during his trials and tribulations. The colorful vocabulary and graceful use of descriptive adjectives added that extra oomf to the already immaculate story. You are constantly relating to the main character, you feel what he feels, emotionally and in terms of all the five senses. The ending of this book is so powerful, it leaves you with your mouth gaped open and your mind awakened, This story not only has a very fascinating plot, but it also has a very powerful message behind it that I think all humanity should learn. Thank you once again Hugo for writing this masterpiece. Best book ever. A story. A novel. A thriller of its own kind. I wish you lots of prosperity. :)
