About the Author Diane P. Kostick has lived in Barrington for more than fifty years. She taught language arts in Barrington Unit School District 220 for thirty-nine years and now teaches courses in both U.S. history and humanities at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg. Kostick has been a member of the Barrington Writer's Workshop and the Second Saturday Poetry Workshop for decades and she is the author of eight books, including Voices of Barrington.

Anderso- Khleif The wonderful thing about this comprehensive story about the founding and growth and of Barrington, IL, is that it is indeed written like a story covering the whole scope from a frontier town to modern day Barrington. It's fascinating and includes a great range of evolutionary phases and covers a wide vista of families, civic organizations, schools, churches, parks, environmental initiatives, village activities, and individuals who helped build the community from pioneer days to the present. You will probably find your family, name, school, restaurant, organization, business, community activity, or almost anything in the index and the text. Also lots of wonderful old and current photos. The author is a noted historian and teacher so she has really put her heart into this wonderful book. Anyone living in Barrington or thinking about moving there will find a treasure of information and memories.
