About the Author A retired pharmacist licensed in three states, Harvey Mendez lives with his wife, Ann in Southern California. He has co-authored a screenplay and has six short stories, two essays, one poem, and seven novels published. His novel, AMELIA, is a best seller and placed fourth in a national contest and was a finalist in the EPPIE 2003 contest. THE BEAR AND THE BULL won first place as a short story in 1986. It's fascinating and includes a great range of evolutionary phases and covers a wide vista of families, civic organizations, schools, churches, parks, environmental initiatives, village activities, and individuals who helped build the community from pioneer days to the present. You will probably find your family, name, school, restaurant, organization, business, community activity, or almost anything in the index and the text. Also lots of wonderful old and current photos. The author is a noted historian and teacher so she has really put her heart into this wonderful book. Anyone living in Barrington or thinking about moving there will find a treasure of information and memories.

He is a very interesting person and to still be backpacking in his 80s is pretty impressive. The book is mostly stream of consciousness that he jotted down on discarded food wrappers while he was backpacking. Having hiked a lot alone in my younger days, I know how the beauty of nature when back packing combined with isolation can make you very philosophic. It is fun to hear his thoughts though.

Morgan I suspect Tom Robbins will want to re-write Even Cowgirls Get the Blues after he reads Wendy Raebeck’s hitchhiking end-of-the-hippie-era odyssey “I Did Inhale (Memoirs of A Hippie Chick)”. At the very least he will be wishing he had consulted with her first so he could have taken some of her magical globe-trotting exploits into his hugely successful novel from the late 70’s. A rare breed, the Long Island beach-bum girl, she is lured by the siren song of other shores, as well as the occasional need to escape a dubious dude. Her indomitable faith in her fellow men and women allows her to fearlessly lick her thumb, stick it into the breeze, and go whichever way it leads her, which is inevitably into one adventure after another as she takes us along with her. It’s wittily written and a real page turner you will wish went on forever (like the 60’s and 70’s!). Ride shotgun with Wendy on this uplifting and funny, occasionally jaw dropping adventure story. I am looking forward to future true tales from Ms. Raebeck and encourage all browsers to dive into this book you will no doubt read more than once.

This memoir is a depiction of a simpler period in this country and a story of someone growing up in it. Wendy's experiences are one of a kind! Her escapades will have you laughing and incredulous. This well-written and engaging book will keep your interest from beginning to end.

A wonderful glimpse into a time gone by when life was user friendly and the sky really was the limit. This jaunt into a baby boomer's reminiscences of cool dayz and loves lost set in the mid 20th century leaves the reader waiting for the next chapter.

About the Author Jay Newman is the R. Gordon Gould Professor of Physics at Union College, Schenectady, New York, where he has taught for 35 years. While studying for his PhD in physics at New York University, he developed a keen interest in biophysics and did a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Biophysics Department of Johns Hopkins University. Since joining the faculty at Union College, Jay has taught and developed more than 15 different courses, led study abroad in science research in Italy, and also spent a year at Stanford University. Jay has received seven multi-year grants for both research and teaching and has published over 60 scientific papers, many co-authored with some of the 30 plus undergraduate students who have done research projects in his laboratory. He is the author of an introductory textbook, Physics of the Life Sciences, designed to teach basic Physics to undergraduate life science students. Having lived in Sicily for more than 3 years during extended periods of time spread over the past 30 years, he has recently written a memoir, Savoring Sicily, sharing many of his adventures with his wife, three children, their spouses, as well as with the many groups of Union College undergraduates, in learning to love Sicily.

About the Author Thomas M.(Mike) Roberson is a native of Houston, Texas. He and his wife Carolyn, live in Pearland near Houston. They have two sons, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He began his career as a firefighter at the Johnson Space Center and joined the Houston Fire Department in 1967. Retiring in 1989 as a Senior Arson Investigator, he sought new adventures. Those included: executive security, circulation manager for an advertising newspaper, hospital security manager, expert witness, and engineering manager. He has written poems and short stories for years but only after his second retirement, did he begin to write Hunter, his first novel. Mike's other interests are reading, travel, and collecting guns. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A real Texas Lawman By MrsPiddles Can a Texas lawman also be a Christian? Not only that, a strong Christian. Jacob Hunter sets out to right a wrong and investigates the wrongful imprisonment of a friend. But the deeper he digs the more dangerous things get. I loved every part of this book, and I don't usually read Christian novels. This one is not preachy, just the realistic life of a cop who prays - and gets the bad guy. I highly recommend this book for anyone.

Gray This author's first novel is a great read if you love the Texas hill country, detective stories, and authentic Christian heroes. The characters are believable, the plot is intriguing, and the reminders of God's promises encourage the reader. You will fall in love with the Hunter family, and I hope there are more tales to follow.

They make goofy comments about the "maidens", people they meet, and situations they encounter. It was a time when Inns were as you took them - sometimes overcrowded with hay mattresses. I can't wait to retrace some of their steps when we visit Wales! I have to read with a map by my side to mark places, but will definitely take this kindle edition with me when we go! It is rich with history and descriptions of the beautiful scenery they find.

Unique, mesmerizing and a hit with our 3.5 year old By Amir Pedram The story is captivating and every day our daughter brings it to me at least a couple times to read to her. I really like that the vocabulary and sentence structures of the story are not "dumbed down". And yet it's easy to follow and every time I read it I feel excited and full of anticipation. The symbolism and underlying message of the story are a great reminder for us adults and priceless guides for the little ones.The illustrations are unique, and every page is completely in sync with that part of the story. I really loved the fact that our daughter was thinking outside the box when she saw the illustrations. Every time we read it she discovers something new and we talk about it.I'm hopeful that this the first of many more masterpieces of Love that we can expect to see.
