6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. From A Flight Simulation Fan By Reginald E. Burnette I've been a fan of flight simulation since Microsoft FS98. I've been an aviation fan (worked at airports & U.S. Air Force) since 1968. I've read many aviation books and I must say that Kachan's work is as eloquent as Ernest K. Gann or Richard Bach (IMHO). I can't seem to put the book down. It really doesn't matter if you're an flight nut (like me) or into travel writing. There's something here for everybody. Enjoy!
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Recommended read By Bill A As a pilot, I enjoyed this aviation experience. The starship seems the perfect magic carpet vehicle for the dream that many of us share - round-the-world on your terms, at your own pace, and by your own hand.
4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. The art & science of flight ... and the joys of travel By Mike Tanner Rare is the writer who can convincingly celebrate both the beauty and science of flight, and the joys of travel. This book clearly appeals to pilots and aviation enthusiasts, yet it also stands up as a legitimate travel and adventure story even for readers without an aviation background. Geeky technical detail is largely relegated to the 150+ footnotes. Kachan is a former journalist, and it shows. His prose is engaging yet economical. The book's unique blend of fact and fiction and real-world developments make The Starship Diaries a unique work of art.
