2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A must read... By Montague Catway I loved Warren Esby's book and raced right through it, because I couldn't put it down--the plot moves rapidly. It's so funny that I just couldn't stop laughing. In some ways it reminds me of Carl Hiaasen. It's hard for me to pinpoint my favorite satirical themes from Mr. Esby's book, but his irreverent satire knows no bounds, whether he's discussing CIA agents' ice cream addictions, government employees monitoring Internet porn, or other examples of our tax dollars at work.You'll stay engaged, even riveted, as the young protagonist, a recent PhD from MIT, begins a journey from Boston to San Diego, where a job awaits him. Unfortunately, confused Russian spies also await him, chasing him in Buick Regals over much of his car trip. Once he arrives at his destination, our hero finds himself ensnared by the CIA as well, hence the "Doubled" in the title. Bizarre drone attacks, drug smuggling, and gorgeous women "plague" the poor lad at every turn.All I can say is that I hope Warren Esby is planning the next novel already.Buy Doubled or Nothing! The book is a real bargain, and you won't stop laughing right up to the surprise ending.

Esby is spot-on By Hyrax A lean, terse thriller clearly based on the author's own experience, which confirms the suspicions of even the most jaded conspiracy-theorist. The book also provides an answer to one of the worlds' major philosophical conundrums: why federal agents only drive Cadillac Escalades.
