Review Praise for Scarlett Dawn"Holy hotness, Gargoyle is absolutely sizzling and amazingly imaginative." Beth, Tome Tender"From the very beginning, it was impossible for me to put this book down! Scarlett does such an amazing job pulling you into the story and connecting you with the characters that you're left begging for more at the end. " Michele, Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews"The characters are HOT, the drama was great and there is just enough suspense to keep your interest through it all! Yet again another great book by Scarlett Dawn! This woman is great and I love reading her work!" Rebecca, Live Laugh & Love Books"From the very first page I was captivated by yet another town, another group of characters, and another story I didn't want to put down. SD never fails to pull me in and keep me wanting more!" Vanessa, Whirlwindbooks"Paranormal romance is my jam and Gargoyle hit all the right notes for me - smoking hot alpha who is a smidge of jerk but still swoon worthy, plucky heroine who is fallible but refreshingly redeemable, crackling chemistry between the leads and mysterious goings on that kept me guessing until the very end." I love reading books about shifters, but I’ve never read a book about Gargoyles before. I wasn’t disappointed one bit though, they are just as hot and ornery as all the other shifters out there.Kennedy doesn’t have the most welcoming night when she first arrives in the city of Woodland Creek. She falls of a building and then from there, her entire life as she knew it changes. She now sees that humans aren’t the only ones walking the streets of Woodland Creek, and she isn’t the least bit happy about it.However Kennedy is in for more surprises, after one of the hottest nights she’s ever had with the Gargoyle shifter Isaac (who also just happens to be the mayor of Woodland Creek), she can’t seem to keep him out of her head, as much as she hates herself for it. Not only that, but after that night (which she had no control of, well…. Maybe she had a choice at the end, but you’d have to read the story to understand what I’m talking about) she also loses her boyfriend that she thought was the one.Kennedy and Isaac have quite a few surprises in store for them, including this magnetic attraction they have for each other. The question is, are they prepared to handle everything that comes at them and concur it together, or will it all be too much and they let the pieces fall where they may? From the very beginning, it was impossible for me to put this book down! Scarlett does such an amazing job pulling you into the story and connecting you with the characters that you’re left begging for more at the end. I really hope we get to see more of Kennedy and Isaac, or even the Stone family. I have a feeling find the ONE isn’t going to be easy for anyone in that family. Congrats Scarlett on an amazing story, and I can’t wait to read more of what you have in store for us!

Enjoying this Novella series By Karen I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book so I chose it as one of the Woodland Creek Novella's to review, Having already read The Beast Within by Rachel M. RaithbyI had some idea of the world that these stories are themed on. So I think in someways this was an advantage, but if I had read this book first, I think I would have been a bit lost.I am going to break this down to my thoughts as I read. A shifter made of stone. And wings. A human bent on free love. And drunk. Any joke could be made with those two lines. But the town of Woodland Creek, it's no laughing matter. Hostile and magical residents guard their secrets. It's too easy to be found out. When Isaac Stone first meets Kennedy Kirk, he's tempted to shove her off the clock tower. After all, she is gripping his private parts to lean over and see his town. One little push is all it would take... Isaac never anticipated he'd be the one to fall.Beginning - Started off good, the prologue had me wanting more and I was eager to read on, having started it at night, I ended up reading later than expected. The gargoyles sounded arrogant and superior to the silly drunk human grappling over them as they sat on watch over the town up on the tower, and when Kennedy falls and is saved, I wanted to carry on and see what the prophecy was supposed to mean.It sort of went downhill after that really.Chapter 1 opens with Kennedy delivering a package, no time frame is given, it could have been a few days or a few months after her drunken fall? But obviously Kennedy is wary of being around these 'shifters, witches and other paranormal beings' that she can now see.The 'wave of lust' that hits the town just as she was delivering the package reminded me of a scene out of the True blood series, when the Maenad who gets the town drunk on lust to bring about the rising of the of Dionysus. As Erotic scenes go it was OK but after they sneak out to their own lives, the storyline seemed to drift.its only half way through the book we find out more about Kennedy, on how she was delivering the package in the first place ( she has 2 part time jobs one as a courier and then also working in a flower shop) both were used as reasons to why she went unnoticed as a human at first. The story went way off base for me during the scene where Kennedy's estranged boyfriend finally comes over to her apartment - and I really didn't get why he deliberately took their dog and made a fuss over it.I don't want to spoil the story, so I can't go into it too much.I will finish in saying that I loved the overall idea of this story, but that I feel that the backstories could have been better placed at the beginning of the novella, rather than later, and that if written into a Novel, with more time for character development, back stories about the characters, ie Boyfriend and also the 'Baddie' causing all the magic upheaval in the story it would make a 4 or 5 star read. This is the first book I have read from the author, but a friend loves Scarlett Dawn PNR books so I will be checking out her full Novel series.I do think the idea of this series is a very good one and I am looking forward to reading more from the collaborating authors.Gargoyle (Woodland Creek)

Hell, if I’m being honest, I’m kind of behind in experiencing shifter books as well, so this was a double whammy. Add in that this was an author I’d never had the pleasure of experiencing before, and a pretty kick ass looking cover and I was sold.I enjoyed this short little read immensely. I have to admit that I wished it were longer, but for what was here, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t like anything I’d read before and I enjoyed quite a few of the characters, both the main ones as well as those that served a greater purpose from the background.Carter and Mike stood out at times even more than Kennedy and Isaac did. I’m not entirely sure if that was the author’s intent, but she definitely sold me on wanting more of those two. The entire family really. They all had aspects of their personalities that came through strong and made me want even more with them. Even the mother that I wanted to hate but couldn't lol. What I enjoyed most had to be the way Kennedy was presented.Often times in books and I say this because even in my own writing endeavors, I’ve fallen victim to this, the heroine usually comes across meek and mild. In this, Kennedy was a lot tougher than I went in expecting her to be and it drew me in even more. She was capable of giving back as good as she got, even when she was swept up and often times lost in what was going on around her. She was tough and I enjoyed that, especially with the way she was shown in the opening scene.I wanted to hate Isaac, but in the end couldn’t. Sure, he was kind of a cocky ass, but the reasoning for it worked and in the end, the payoff I wanted right from the first scene was given to me in spades by books end. His protectiveness came through, his affection and in the end, what appeared to be caused by magic and power, turned out to be about a whole lot more for both him and Kennedy. It was humorous on top of being spellbinding, and all sorts of steamy. The steaminess of it actually taking me off guard as in the paranormal stories I’ve read in the past, there wasn’t a whole lot of face time given to this aspect. But that, along with all of the other elements present here came together and created one hell of a read.I’m glad I took the chance with this book and with this author. Her style of writing, and the pacing of this story definitely made me a fan and now I’m eager to see what else she’s written and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. Maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll get even more of these characters.I think if you’re a fan of short reads, paranormal/fantasy style reads or this author, you’ll enjoy this.
