My favourite afternoon in Brussels was spent at Dandoy eating waffles and people watching from their summer patio seating. Wine lovers will also love Etiquette and their innovative automated wine-by-the-glass dispensers. Filled with recommendations to take you away from the tourist traps and offers great options to eating well and deliciously among the locals at every price point.

Alison doesn't only tell you where to go for all kinds of foods (international, budget, Michelin stars...), but also what to eat if you want to eat real Belgian food. The different categories she uses make the book a real reference that you can easily flip open when you want a quick but good tip for a delicious night out or a fun lunch.I know I'll be using this book next time I go to Brussels!

By Adriana Having this guide, back when I lived in Belgium, would have been a huge help. I can find places to eat online but having an insider's tip is worth gold. About the Author Jason Old is a full-time professor of Spanish and Latin American Culture at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He is also the CEO and co-founder of The SurfShare, LLC, a surf-sharing social networking platform whose mission is to connect surfers and surf enthusiasts from across the globe to foster more enjoyable surf travel as well as to create economic sustainability in the coastal communities of the developing world. He has earned a Master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies, with concentrations in Anthropology and Spanish-American Literature. When he is not teaching at the university, he travels around Latin America and enjoys the beauties of a region of the world that stole his heart almost 15 years ago. Jason has been fortunate enough to have lived in almost all of the Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America. When he is in Latin America, he is generally involved in one way or another with sport and development projects, field research, and extreme sports. A delightful little trip By Bbdoll5 Jason wrote of the beauties of our south American neighbors; their habitat and way of life through his thoroughly American eyes. His vivid descriptions left me sweating, hearing monkeys and smelling bananas. His white rafting trip left me hungry for a trip to see the wonders he saw. Jason's life so far has been exciting and full of love and caring for our fellow man, woman and child. His adventures opened my eyes to the fact we know so little about ourSouth American neighbors. Through his adventures, we learn that South America is beautiful, beachy, and filled with the love of soccer. This book convinced me that a trip to South America needs to be added to my bucket list. Kudos Jason on a well written book.

While it is a relaxed style of writing it is extremely thought provoking as he writes about the life, culture, economics, history and people of the 5 countries he traveled through. Having traveled to several of these countries myself I was able to relate to many of the stories included and yet it provided a unique view and prospective on the culture that made me want to return to experience again for myself. Warning: reading this book will make you want to travel and seek adventure

Unexpected read By Gaby at Starting Fresh blog When I started Young Man with Camera, I expected it to be an adventure story of a young boy in a city, taking pictures, capturing events, making friends, etc.But it turns out that T doesn't have very many friends, except for Sean and his dog. T is marked by large burns on this head and it's made him the target of bullies as well as less popular in middle school. We find that T's learned to deal with his lack of friends and the distrust that some teachers have of him. T also finds ways to cope with the disappointment of his parents. His camera and the photos help him make sense of the world and express his conflicting emotions. Certainly, he doesn't rely on words or talking. On particularly bad days, he just wants Silence with his best friend Sean. T's story is sad enough but he makes friends with a homeless woman named Lucy. He understands something about her and shares his photos. They hang out, but attract the attention and bullying of Ryan and his crew.Ryan's found ways to make it seem as though T-- does all sorts of bad things and plants evidence that teachers find each time incriminating T. T's never tried or learned to speak up to refute any of these "incidents" so when Ryan's tricks get out of hand, T doesn't know what to do. Whether to confront Ryan and reveal the truth or to stay silent and protect his friend Sean.Young Man with Camera tells the story of friendships, loyalty, disappointment, bullying and isolation. It's a bit frustrating because I keep wanting T to just speak up, but part of the power of the story is learning what it might be like to be the sort of person that T is.

About the Author

 I am a teacher, photographer, adventurer and world citizen. I am a student of observation. The photographs in my portfolios tend to demonstrate my talent for social documentary work. Not just to photograph a person, but to make that person important and empowered. It’s true, I am a teller of tales, the images I make are my words that tell the story of the people, their challenges, their love and their hope that I see through my lens.I have a bachelor’s degree in art and psychology, and a master’s degree in visual art and photography. And I think more importantly then any degrees that one can have are real life experiences in your field of studies. I’m pretty sure that’s been more important to me than both those degrees..I have spent the better half of my life in the classrooms as an educator in art, photography and digital design. I am a practitioner of composition, natural light and form found in all my photographs.I am sponsored by Canson digital papers as one of their ‘ambassadors in photography’ and  I own and operate a photo travel workshop company  based in the NY metro area. My photographs have been exhibited nationally and internationally as well as my work being collected in corporations, museums and with private clients.

The powerful images that Jay Seldin offers in this beautifully packaged photo book provides a vicarious exploration of Cuba, her people and the island's history. The revolution has managed to erase human dignity, ambition, incentive, and by way of serious indoctrination and repression, limited the people to a life of poverty mentality and limited life-resources, to struggle in securing basic living needs such as food and clothing, things we so take for granted in our lives here in the U.S. In other words, my opinion is that, in spite of the fact that the Cuban people have very little to work with, they seem to show a face of contentment and gratitude for the pictures. My family was blessed to have traveled to the United States in 1962, I was 11 years old. I walked some of the streets shown in Jay's pictures. I walked on the walls of the Malecón, looking for the spray of the surf to wet me. I still have family in Cuba, some I don't know, some killed or died.Jay's book is a moving experience for me. I look through it time after time. I cry, I smile, I love it, it's brilliant. I received my first book through the Kickstarter group, however, plan on purchasing more to give to my family and friends.Thank you Jay, for a truly remarkable piece of art. I encourage all to buy this book. Peace.

I felt like I was drinking mojitos at the bar in the picture By Frances Pelzman I've always wanted to visit Cuba, because my godparents told me wonderful tales of the time they spent visiting there in the 50's. It seemed magical to me, but I don't know if I'll get there any time soon. That's why I was curious about this particular view of Cuba. I have Jay Seldin's book about barbershops in India, and it is so beautiful and poignant and universal that I gave a copy to my mother, a teacher, to show her students. The Cubans takes that honesty and poignant view a few steps further. He manages to communicate to the viewer what it might feel like to live in Cuba, to absorb Cuban culture, to drink at a bar, and attend a dance production staged by Cuba's premier dancers. The book had an almost hypnotic effect on me. It's simply beautiful.
