BOOK DESCRIPTION: Adventure thriller. A freakish disaster at sea on an icebreaker left Damey locked in the bowels of the ship with no electricity, water, or heat. The rest of the ship suffered the same conditions with outdoor temperatures ranging in the vicinity of twenty below zero. They, however, were not locked into their rooms. The US Navy had discovered a mysterious flow of oil seeping out from under the ice shelf in the Antarctic. As a fifty year international ban went into effect in 1988 regarding any oil or mineral exploration in that area of the world, the discovery was automatically suspicious. For some reason, unknown to Dewline Robotics Engineering, the National Security Administration and Department of Defense were aware of the nuclear powered, oil-sniffing, underwater robot that Damey and his crew had been developing. The NSA contacted the company and asked for help. As the vice president of Dewline, Dr. Damarian Williams, PhD, AKA Damey, is considered one of the top, if not THE top robotics scientist/engineer “Geek” in the country. Therefore, Sam Wardwell, owner of Dewline, always left all emergency troubleshooting operations up to him, much to the chagrin of his wife, Zandy, and children, Zack, Zaiden, and Zane. The boys hated having Dad gone for extended periods.

Color my reading genre all of those...and author Larry Webb colors using a full box of Crayolas. A huge dose of heart tints the background. Three young brothers propel Webb's heart-touching tale forward by exhibiting that zest and zeal we Boomers recall and cherish. Two loving, dedicated parents keep their three sons a notch above their very successful careers in the computerized, robot-obeying world that's right around the corner, at least according to the 'Z' Team. And, this author skillfully describes a mind-boggling, high-tech creation coming to a place nearby...soon...so even this low-tech reader could learn and understand. "Nice work, Larry."Now, every story needs a vehicle to move if forward, so, Webb assigns Hector with that task, and he performs it flawlessly. He also uses two parents, Damey and Zandy, who take the upbringing of their boys seriously. And daily, they splash it with love.Strange, Webb's story caused this reader to see a deeper meaning; Hector represents the future of things to come; and these parents' love and raising of their children sadly represents the present breakdown of the American family. However, Webb's suspenseful tale is also splashed with hope. The reader watches a family planting positive seeds in every aspect of living to every person they come into contact with, and so, the 'Z' Team is doing their part to keep this country and its people, the best in the world.I enjoyed Webb's 'dream sequences' with Damey. They added the backstory perfectly. Supporting characters also fulfilled their tasks, nicely. And every well-told story needs that exzzziting and exzzzeptional ending, and Webb delivers. At completion, this reader closed the book and smiled, releasing a sigh of contentment. "Thank you, Larry, for a top-shelf, page-turning, and uplifting read. You knocked it out of the park. Keep writin'...and smilin'..."LeeCarey-author.com

Hathaway I have read all of Larry Webb's books and have enjoyedall of them. I always end up wondering what the charactersare doing after I finish reading them. Larry has a way ofmaking them feel like real people that you have come to knowand like. Thankfully, after Grandpa Tutor passed away ,wewere invited into the lawyer's office for the reading of his willand to his great surprise Damey was given a considerable amountof money to buy a “nice home” and continue his education. Now, 26yrs later he has attained his PHD in science and Roboticsand is married to Zandy, an accomplished project engineer at DewlineRobotics and three sons, Zachary, Zane, and Zaiden....thus the “Z team.”This book is full of excitement and adventure and some highly techni-cal complications which have been researched by the author and areaccurate as we do actually have robots in the oceans which have theability to search for oil leaks as Hector did. As Damey is lockedin a brig cell for privacy, he spends his time in dreams revealinga loving, caring relationship within his family and a lot of emotionfrom the boys who aren't happy when dad is gone for very longand at the age of puberty... it doesn't help much. How this all isresolved is very exciting but one would have to read the book tofind out. It is well worth it! Thanks Larry for another winner.Grandpa Tutor would be proud.Mary Hathaway, Battle Creek,Mi

He's a good writer getting better with each book. This book follows up on a character, Damey, that Larry introduced in one of his earlier books, Damey & Grandpa Tutor. The great novelist Anthony Trollope said that a book's plot is not all that important; a book is good if the characters in it have life in them. Larry is a good writer because his characters do have life in them, there is a sense that you are reading about real people rather than cardboard characters. The appeal of Damey & The Z Team is not so much in the plot (although that's pretty good, too) as in the characters Larry created. You are shown a lot of decent people, and a loving family interacting with one another. This book does not have a villain, as so many of Larry's other books do, and maybe that's one of the reasons why I like this book; Larry does a good job of creating mean, nasty villains, too, so to not have a mean, nasty character in this book was kind of a relief for me. I think the natural audience for this book is teenagers (teenage boys in particular), although many people of all ages would enjoy this book as well. Excellent job, Larry, can't wait to read your next book!
