Abernethy This book was written as if it were a travel blog written after each step of his journey over the Dixie Highway. It does not follow a north-south or south-north travel. At one time he is in Kentucky and Tennessee and then in Florida and then in Michigan. He jumps around all the time. There is very little info about how one can drive the highway or what sites to see along the route except for two things that he visited many times and the ten concrete markers.Yes, it was an effort of love for the author but not very beneficial to the readers. Thank goodness, I did not have to pay for the book.

It is written from the perspective of one who savors the road travel experience, and appreciates more than a series of sites checked off a mileage chart.....the people, the ambiance, the food, and most of all, the life of the Dixie Highway. Well illustrated with many good photographs. A very good read, and an incentive to hit the road....in this case the famed Dixie Highway.
